When we decided it was time to take our first big family vacation post-Covid, I knew I wanted it to be something special. Something magical. When you think “magic,” Disney naturally comes to mind. But let me tell you, planning a Disney vacation, especially for a family of five, is no small feat. It all started with a little innocent YouTube research, and before I knew it, I had tumbled down the Disney rabbit hole.
The Disney Dilemma: Resort or Cruise?
Initially, I had my heart set on the Disney Hawaiian resort. I’d watched countless videos, dreaming of the sun-soaked beaches and the unique Disney touches that make every moment feel like a fairytale. But as I delved deeper into the world of Disney vacations, I started to wonder would a Disney cruise be even more magical? The thought of sailing the seas with Mickey and friends, all while visiting different destinations, began to intrigue me.
But here’s the catch when planning a family vacation for five: accommodations can get tricky. Most resorts and cruise cabins are designed for families of four, meaning you’re often asked to book a second room, which can really add up. I wanted this vacation to be memorable, but I also wanted it to be manageable.
The Search for Solutions: Enter the Travel Agent
That’s when I realized I needed some expert help. After more research and a few more YouTube videos, I decided to enlist a travel agent to guide me through the process. Enter Tinks Magical Vacation a travel agency specializing in all things Disney.
Having someone who knows the ins and outs of Disney vacations was a game-changer. They helped me understand the different stateroom options that could accommodate our family without requiring a second room. They also explained the various cruise itineraries, dining options, and even the best times to book excursions. It was like having a fairy godmother guiding me through the planning process, making everything feel less overwhelming.
You also may be thinking “I can’t afford a travel agent.” Or even “I don’t trust someone else to plan my vacation.” Which are valid points. In most cases the travel agents get their commission straight from Disney just for booking through the agency. They get a cut from Disney directly, no additional fees added to the vacation or anything. Not to mention booking through them I also got a $250 on board credit for when we set sail. Whether you trust the company or not is solely based on the research you do on them to ensure they have good reviews or even if you know someone who recommends or refers one that they used previously.
My travel agent Taylor is amazing she’s attentive and ready to answer any of my questions even if I feel silly about asking. She’s knowledgeable about the cruise not only through work but through her real life experience. She was about to go on her cruise when we first got in touch. So I knew she would have the answers and if she didn’t she would find out for me.
Why We Chose the Disney Cruise
Ultimately, we decided on the Disney cruise for several reasons. First, the convenience of having everything in one place entertainment, dining, and activities was too good to pass up. I also loved the idea of being able to explore different destinations while still having that Disney magic at every turn. Plus, with three kids in tow, the thought of a cruise where they could meet their favorite characters, enjoy themed parties, and have endless entertainment options was a huge win.
Another major factor was the ability to tailor the cruise to our family’s needs. With Tinks Magical Vacation’s help, we found the perfect stateroom that fits all of us comfortably. No need for a second room, just one cozy space where we can all unwind after a day of adventures.
What’s Next: The Countdown Begins
Now that we’ve booked our cruise, the excitement is building. I’m already planning our next steps what to pack, how to prepare the kids, and of course, all the outfits we’ll need for those unforgettable family photos with Mickey and Minnie. (Expect a YouTube haul video soon!)
There’s still a lot to do before we set sail, but knowing that we’ve got everything in place makes it feel less daunting and more like the magical adventure we’ve been waiting for. Stay tuned as I share more about our planning journey, tips for making the most of a Disney cruise, and all the fun and surprises along the way.
