The magic didn’t stop after embarkation! Our first night aboard the Disney Dream gave us a true taste of Disney hospitality, combining world-class entertainment with incredible dining.
The Golden Mickeys: A Star-Studded Show
After settling in and unpacking, we made our way to the Walt Disney Theater for The Golden Mickeys. Walking into the theater was an experience in itself—it felt like stepping into an old Hollywood premiere. The venue was grand, with plush seating and a great view from nearly every angle.
We chose seats on the lower left side near the stage, which turned out to be a perfect spot. For my daughter, who loves musicals but had never seen one live, this was a dream come true. From the first note to the final curtain, she was captivated, singing along under her breath and beaming the entire time.
The Golden Mickeys didn’t just entertain; it pulled on all the nostalgic heartstrings. With tributes to Disney classics and some surprises along the way, it was the perfect introduction to the magic of Disney Cruise Line. And yes, we snagged some of that glittering golden confetti at the end—it felt like bringing a piece of the magic back with us!
Dinner at Royal Palace: A Royal Welcome

Following the show, we headed to our first dining rotation at Royal Palace, and the name could not have been more fitting. The restaurant was elegant, with regal chandeliers, stunning princess-themed artwork, and details that transported us to a Disney fairytale.
Our waitstaff—Ravi, Meow Meow, and Steve—greeted us with the kind of energy that makes you feel like royalty. Ravi had a knack for remembering every little detail about what we liked, while Meow Meow’s name instantly became a running joke with the kids.

A Meal to Remember
Dinner started with some adventurous choices, as my husband decided to try escargot for the first time. I could see the hesitation on his face, but after a taste, he gave it a nod of approval, describing it as similar to mussels. For those curious but hesitant, it’s definitely worth a try!
Our kids also dove into some incredible dishes, including:
• Lobster pasta: A rich, creamy favorite.
• Rack of lamb: Cooked to perfection and devoured in minutes.
• Cheeseburger: Even the simplest dishes are done exceptionally well here.
Every dish was beautifully plated and packed with flavor, and there wasn’t a crumb left on anyone’s plate by the end of the meal.
Magical Touches & Dessert

The interactive dinner experience brought so much joy to the table. Ravi wowed the kids with magic tricks while Meow Meow shared fun stories about the ship. These little moments turned a great dinner into an unforgettable one.
For dessert, the kids chose a mix of chocolate and fruit-based treats, while my husband and I indulged in something richer. Paired with a cocktail, it was the perfect way to end the evening.
Ending the Night on a High Note
After dinner, we wandered through the grand atrium once more, marveling at the towering Christmas tree and taking a few more family photos. Exhausted but happy, we made our way back to our stateroom to rest up for a full day ahead.
Our first night aboard the Disney Dream was everything we’d hoped for and more. Between the incredible entertainment, delicious food, and little Disney touches everywhere, we couldn’t wait to see what the next day would bring.
