Settling Into the Magic: Our First Hours Aboard the Disney Dream

After our magical greeting in the grand atrium, where Goofy waved to us from the grand staircase, we couldn’t help but pause and take in the dazzling sights. From the sparkling chandelier to the intricate Disney details everywhere, the atmosphere was everything we had dreamed of and more.

Lunch at Cabanas

Traveling since early morning left us famished, so we made a beeline for Cabanas, the ship’s buffet restaurant. The spread was incredible fresh, flavorful, and with options to satisfy everyone. From savory seafood to perfectly crisp salads and kid-friendly staples, it was a perfect start to the culinary adventure we were about to embark on.

Hubby was a happy camper!

Killing Time Before Rooms Were Ready

With some time to spare before our staterooms were ready, we decided to explore the top decks. The kids wasted no time in grabbing some soft-serve ice cream, a treat that became an instant hit. We found ourselves a spot by the pool and watched Toy Story on the giant Funnel Vision screen, a magical Disney touch that made even waiting feel fun.

Unpacking and Muster Drills

Once our stateroom was ready, we headed down to check it out. It was such a cozy and well-designed space, perfect for our family of five. We took a moment to unpack, organize, and settle in before heading to the mandatory muster drill, which was a quick and efficient process.

Sail Away Party

With drills behind us, it was time for one of the most exciting moments of embarkation day: the Sail Away Party! The top deck came alive with music, dancing, and all the Disney characters hyping everyone up for the start of the cruise. The kids were thrilled to see Mickey, Minnie, and friends on stage, and it was impossible not to get swept up in the infectious energy.

Sail away party!

We got our first drinks of the day which were Bahama mamas. Since Disney doesn’t have a beverage package for adults, to save a bit of money I opted for the drink of the day for most days. But if not I’d recommend wine so you can feel the buzz faster and with less # of drinks. If that’s your cruise plan lol.

Reflecting on Our First Day

The first few hours aboard the Disney Dream were nothing short of magical. From the warm welcome to the incredible food and entertainment, Disney made sure our vacation started off perfectly.

Next up: exploring the ship, diving into activities, and gearing up for our Bahamian adventure!
