While the Disney Dream docked in Nassau, we made the decision to stay aboard and soak up all the ship had to offer. Skipping the port gave us the perfect opportunity to enjoy a quieter ship and dive into some onboard activities that made for a fun, relaxing day as a family.
A Poolside Morning Without the Crowds

With so many passengers disembarking to explore Nassau, the pools were far less crowded than usual—a major win for us! We snagged a prime spot by the pool early in the day and let the kids splash around while we watched Frozen on Funnel Vision. The soft-serve machine was working overtime for our family, as the kids enjoyed cone after cone of their favorite flavors.
Trivia, Karaoke, and Family Fun
Once we were all dried off, we explored some of the ship’s entertainment offerings. We decided to try our luck at family trivia in one of the lounges, and even though we didn’t win, the kids had a blast guessing answers (and were surprisingly good at Disney-themed questions!).
Later, we joined a karaoke session, which was one of the highlights of the day. A little girl performed her version of Part of Your World, and the audience gave her such enthusiastic applause that her smile stretched ear to ear. It was a sweet reminder of how inclusive and supportive the Disney cruise experience is for kids and families.
Solving Mysteries with the Midship Detective Agency
The standout activity of the day was tackling the Midship Detective Agency Mission. Armed with a magical badge and a ship map, we worked together to solve a mystery by visiting interactive art stations scattered throughout the ship.
But before we set off on our adventure we saw Rapunzel standing off to the side looking over the balcony down below, no crew member just her wandering the corridor. My son says “is that Rapunzel?” Then she turned and with her long blond hair she exclaimed my friends and walked over and took pictures with the kids. A truly magical moment we didn’t even have to wait in a long Disney line for. Winning!

After that was done we headed off to each station came alive with animation, giving us clues and tasks to complete.
It was such a clever and engaging experience that even the adults got into it! The best part? We solved the case! The kids felt like real detectives, and we loved watching their teamwork and excitement grow with each clue.
Relaxing Vibes All Day Long
One of the best things about staying onboard during a port day was how relaxed the entire day felt. There was no rushing to get off the ship, no crowds to navigate, and no schedule to stick to. We had the freedom to enjoy everything at our own pace, and it was a refreshing break from the usual hustle of vacation days.
Dinner and an Early Night
As the day wound down, we made our way to another delicious dinner (shoutout to the rotational dining magic!) and recapped our favorite moments from the day. We also got to meet Crush from Finding Nemo which was awesome. The kids were so worn out from swimming and solving mysteries that they were ready to crash early, which gave us adults a little quiet time to unwind on our stateroom veranda.
Tips for Staying Onboard on a Port Day
1. Take Advantage of the Quiet Pools: With fewer guests onboard, it’s the perfect time to snag a poolside spot and enjoy the space.
2. Try Unique Onboard Activities: Trivia, karaoke, or interactive missions like the Midship Detective Agency are all great ways to fill your day.
3. Enjoy the Calm: Port days onboard offer a slower pace, giving you a chance to relax and soak in the Disney magic without the usual crowds.
Day 2 was everything we needed, low-key, magical, and full of family bonding. Staying on the ship was definitely the right choice for us, and it gave us time to explore all the unique activities the Disney Dream has to offer. Next up? Castaway Cay! Stay tuned for the adventures ahead!
