Day 3: Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point – Sun, Surf & Pirate Night Adventures

We kicked off Day 3 bright and early (yes, even on vacation) to grab breakfast at Cabanas before heading off the ship to explore Disney’s new private island – Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Pro Tip: Pack your beach bags the night before! Once you disembark, be ready for a long boardwalk walk to the beach area. Disney does offer shuttles for older guests, pregnant travelers, or anyone who needs a lift – super helpful and thoughtful.

Once on the island, we wandered through the colorful local shops before claiming our spot on the beach. The waves were intense – thanks to a nearby hurricane churning up the ocean – but it made for a thrilling beach day. The kids had a blast jumping the waves, and we definitely worked up an appetite.

We made our way to the grill area for lunch, where Disney had a BBQ feast waiting. The food was flavorful and fresh, and my husband is still raving about that chicken sandwich – his highlight of the day.

While the kids headed back to the beach with our family, my husband and I took a little detour to the adults-only section. Peace, ocean breeze, and a couple of tropical drinks? Absolute bliss.

Eventually, it was time to head back to the ship. No matter how long the trek felt with tired feet, Pirate Night was calling!

Note: Due to a medical emergency on the island, departure was delayed. While the onboard entertainment and shows went on as planned, the fireworks had to be postponed until the ship reached the appropriate distance at sea. Once we set sail, it was full steam ahead.

Unfortunately, the rougher movement of the ship during high speeds especially in the back where our dinner was made the kids a little seasick. But after some rest and snuggles, they were back to normal by morning.
